Cody
Felv+ Gender: Male Approximate age: 10 years old (As of 2025) Arrived From: Suffolk, Virginia Arrival Day: 2-22-25
Cody and his sister, Sunny D, had been through so much prior to coming to us. Their owner had abruptly passed away while in the home, leaving behind Cody and Sunny D, along with other cats. The owner was an incredible woman who rescued cats that nobody else wanted. She of course adopted Cody and Sunny D so they would have eachother in the home and then also rescued plenty of strays and gave them a loving sanctuary with her. After her passing, a supporter reached out to us pleading for help with the two. Both cats being leukemia positive, she knew animal control was not an option and these cats needed a place to call home after losing their owner. Of course we said yes and the journey of getting Cody and Sunny D to Blind Cat Rescue started! We have to give a big shout out to not only the incredible supporter and her friend who alerted us and drove the pair four hours to us, one way, but also some other very kind women who picked them up from the home and watched them until they were able to be driven down. Cody and Sunny D are currently decompressing from their journey and quarantining before they join the kiddos in Room 3 in House 1! Cody is a little shy compared to his sister, but still loves his chin scratches. He will also slow blink at you if you talk to him softly. We are so excited to see him come out of his shell and for all of you to meet him!

Dear Supporters, We are heartbroken to share that our sweet Cody crossed the Rainbow Bridge today. Earlier this afternoon, we noticed that Cody was stumbling and having difficulty walking and breathing. We rushed him to the vet immediately, but despite our best efforts, we had to let him go. After X-rays, bloodwork, and the removal of fluid from his abdomen, it was determined that Cody was suffering from wet FIP. Cody’s story was one of love, loss, and second chances. He and his sister, Sunny D, came to us from Suffolk, Virginia, after their beloved owner passed away. Their owner had been an incredible woman who opened her heart and home to cats that no one else wanted. Cody and Sunny D were part of that beautiful legacy of compassion. When he first arrived, Cody was shy and leaned on Sunny D for comfort, but over time, he blossomed into a confident, playful boy. He came to love his Churu treats, gentle chin scratches, and an admiration for the outdoors, and showed us his silly, affectionate side. Though his time with us was far too short, Cody knew love, safety, and peace in his final months. He was surrounded by people who cared deeply for him, and he left this world knowing he was cherished. Thank you for making that possible. Your sponsorship gave Cody the chance to heal, to feel loved, and to leave this world never knowing fear or loneliness again. We are so grateful for the compassion and kindness you shared with him. With heartfelt gratitude and love, Sam
