Ziggy
Blind Gender: Female Approximate age: 3 years old Arrived From: Illinois Arrival Day: August 18, 2025
Ziggy was just a young cat, but life had already asked far too much of her. By the time she was barely three years old, she had been through three litters of kittens, her tiny body exhausted from the demands of motherhood far too soon. It was not until an incredibly kind woman stepped in afer seeing Ziggys kittens posted for adoption online that Ziggy was able to be spayed. But what should’ve been a fresh start turned into a nightmare. On the operating table, Ziggy flatlined. Her heart stopped. The room went silent. She had to be resuscitated brought back from the brink of death. Though she survived, the trauma left deep effects and taking her eyesight. Ziggy had to relearn everything: how to walk, how to eat, how to drink, how to use the litter box. Her brain and body had been through more than anyone realized. Ziggy perservered, but she needed a miracle. Her owner was set to deploy and with the state Ziggy was in, someone needed to step in. That same woman who had already fought so hard to help Ziggy, stepped in again. This time, she took Ziggy into her home, knowing she required constant care, love, and patience. She became Ziggy’s protector, therapist, and family. Every small step Ziggy made toward recovery was a shared victory. But still, she knew this sweet cat needed more than she could provide long-term. Ziggy needed a safe place where she would be cared for. So she began the search. Every call and email was filled with hope and worry. Then finally, we were contacted. Without hesitation, plans were made. Ziggy was driven all the way from Illinois to North Carolina, accompanied by love every mile of the way. Her story is one of resilience, but also of extraordinary kindness; from the soldier who cared for her, to the woman who refused to let her fall through the cracks. Ziggy is a survivor. But more than that, she is a symbol of what can happen when we refuse to give up, even when the odds seem impossible. Miss Ziggy is currently spending her days here in the lobby and office area as she gets settled into her new home with us. She has already made everyone here fall in love with her and we are so excited to share her with you guys and watch her flourish!
