Clara
5/2023 Sweet Clara came to us from animal control in Baltimore. Thanks to Seth and Katherine who went and got her, let her spend the night with them and then drove her part of the way to us. Sam’s wife picked up the 2nd leg and I meet her in Virginia to bring her on home to BCR. We stopped at the vets office first to get blood work done because we knew that she had hyperthryoid and needed blood work before starting treatment. It was now late Friday afternoon. Blood work confirmed the diagnosis and treatment was started immediately on Saturday. Animal control said she came in as a stray with another cat and they figure she is around 17 years old. Right now she is not a real fan of other cats but is very very friendly towards humans. Her life was in serious danger because they had put out the final call for her and because she was rescue only, she could not be adopted, she could only go to a rescue. Her 2nd visit to the vet a few days later showed not only thatshe is hyperthryoid, She has severe kidney disease and heart disease. Those were probley because of her untreated hyperthryoidism. She also had a severe urinary track infection. We are absolutely hospice for her and will try to give her the best care and love for the rest of her life, however long it is. She is not a fan of cats at all, so she is in lobby house 1, you will see her during tours.
