January
1/18/19 January was a blind cat. He came to us a few days ago after being dumped in a neighborhood. People in this area ignored him and he was starving. Finally someone felt sorry for him and looked for help for him. She wouldn’t keep him, she wouldn’t bring him in her house (it is winter, cold and rainy!) but she did finally agree to put him in her barn and give him some food for 2 days until she could bring him to us. She drove 2 hours to bring him. He was in pretty awful shape, very very thin but oh so sweet and had a great appetite! We immediately took him to the vet. X-rays showed his lungs and abdomen were full of fluids. We had the vet pull the fluid off and we started him on lasix in hopes that this might help his body get the opportunity with proper food etc to fix itself. That was not to be, 2 days later he was full of fluids again. The vet felt that euthanizing him was the proper decision. We could have done thousands of dollars of tests, poked him with tons of needles etc but we did not feel it was going to change his out come. I held him in my arms as he crossed the rainbow bridge. For the last 2 days of his life, he was cared for, slept in a nice soft bed, had plenty of food, was dry and warm. Sometimes that is the best we can do. I do wish we had taken his picture before he left us. He was a very very nice fellow and I will miss him. In the end I held him in my arms as he crossed the rainbow bridge. I wish we had gotten a picture of him.
