Jewell
9/2016 Jewell came to us from animal control in Pennsylvania. She had been turned into animal control a year ago and was adopted. She was returned to animal control after a year and finds her self homeless yet again. Sadly she is the only one who can tell us how many homes she has had. We don’t know why she was thrown away by this home. She is approx. 10+ years old and blind. We were very sure she had hypertension by her pound picture. Her full medical showed our suspicion correct. She is super friendly with humans.. not real fond of the other cats. You may watch her live on her MeShare camera. She is in house 1, room 4. Update: This sweet old girl developed hyperthyroidism and had the radiation treatment to cure it. She recovered nicely from it. She began treatment for her hypertension immediately when she arrived at our shelter. She is older now and had kidney disease. She is still super sweet to the humans.

2/22/2021 Jewell was a senior blind kitty who came to us 4 1/2 years ago from animal control in Pennsylvania.  She had had a home,  lost that home and was dropped off at animal control.  Adopted and then dropped back off 1 1/2 years later and now blind.  Who knows how many homes she has had in her life. I promised her that she would never ever lose another home.  We would love her and take care of her forever.  We kept that promise. When she arrived we got her the medical treatment she needed.  She had hypertension and kidney disease from her untreated high blood pressure.  Later she developed hyperthyroidism.  We had her treated with radiation therapy to cure her.  In the last 6 months, she had become much frailer and her health has been deteriorating. She had developed heart disease and was now in the early stage of heart failure.   We had her at the vet last week and her blood work showed her heart failure was now in the end stages.  We had been struggling with her for weeks to get her to eat.  She was losing weight.  Yesterday she clearly had had enough,  she refused to eat,  she growled if you touched her.  She was in pain, she was suffering and it was time to let her go.  The vet and I discussed if there was any more that could we do to give her quality of life and we both agreed, she had had enough.  I held her in my arms as she went over the rainbow bridge.   She was a sweet old girl who loved to be pet.  She would brighten up when she knew she was going to get treats.  She will be very missed.   We were so blessed to have been able to give her 4 more years than she was going to get.  Thank you for helping us make that possible!
