Maria
10/19 Sweet Maria is an old girl, approx 13+ (She is the only one that knows and she says it is not polite to ask a lady her age (smile). She came to us from Animal Control in Tennessee. From the info we could get, she was adopted and then returned because she apparently was pooping outside the litter box. The woman told animal control she was afraid of her husband hurting the cat so could not keep her. It is very interesting that we have had no problems with her not using the litter box. As soon as we saw her picture I said she has hypertension and needs medical treatment. She was taken to our vet as soon as she arrived. She has hypertension of course and sadly kidney disease. She is very friendly. We are happy to have the chance to help her out. Sponsored by Katrina - Thank you! Sponsored by Jole - Thank you! Sponsored by Bhavana - Thank you! Sponsored by Mary - Thank you! Sponsored by Beth - Thank you! 2/11/2020 Maria came to us 4 months ago as a sick senior kitty from animal control. We have struggled for months to get her in better shape and her behavior indicated that she was happy to be here and cared for. Along with serious kidney disease she had severe spondylosis in her back and we are sure was in considerable pain even though receiving pain medication to try to make her more comfortable. She also had chiropractic adjustments, and acupuncture.   We had her at the vet 4 times in the last 2 weeks because she was deteriorating.  This time we returned to the vet because she was lying in her bed peeing and pooping herself, making no attempts to get up, and not eating at all. We are all about the cats living their lives with quality and dignity.  When their medical situation has changed to the point that they no longer have that, it is time to let them go. The vets did more tests etc and we all agreed she had had enough,  it was time to let her go.   She spent the last minutes of her life purring in my arms as if saying thank you for loving me enough to let me go. She was a sweet old girl that we wish we had been able to give more years. She will be missed.
