Rudy
Blind
Gender: Male
Approximate age:
Arrived From: Maryland
Arrival Day: 2011
Rudy is another very lucky kitten who met some angels along
the way. This little blind boy was dumped at the pound in
Maryland that did not adopt out special-needs animals - they
would only release those animals to a rescue. Several people
reached out to us to see if we could help Rudy. So, we contacted
the pound and they agreed to allow us to pull him. A former BCR
employee’s sister worked very close to the pound and she agreed
to pick him up and get him to her vet to be checked out. A few
days later, little Rudy caught a ride to BCR with the sister’s
parents who were traveling through the area! Rudy was born
blind and is one of the sweetest cats you’ll ever meet. He loves
people and other cats and his new favorite game is to escape from
his room for a lobby run! He is a sweet little guy who was born
blind.

Dear Supporters,
It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we share the news that
our beloved Rudy has crossed the Rainbow Bridge.
After reviewing his latest bloodwork with the vet this morning, we
learned that his medication was no longer slowing the progression of
his kidney disease, and we also received the heartbreaking diagnosis
of bone marrow cancer. With more bad days than good and only
supportive care as an option, we made the difficult but
compassionate decision to let him go.
This morning, Rudy spent time in the sunshine, soaking up love, chin
scratches, and all the comfort we could give him. He has been a true
fighter since the day he arrived at BCR as a tiny kitten. But despite
his brave spirit, the toll of kidney disease had simply become too
much.
Since coming to us in 2011 after being dumped at a pound in
Maryland, Rudy has been one of the absolute sweetest and kindest
cats to ever come through Blind Cat Rescue's doors. He loved every
single person he ever met and was always so loving to his fellow
feline roommates. He could often be found cuddling and getting into
mischief with Mickey. We are convinced the two of them would plot
their escapes into the lobby in secret when staff or visitors weren't
around.
Even though Rudy has been here in our care for the past 14 years,
it's truly never long enough that we get to share with them. However,
we take great solace in knowing that Rudy was able to be loved and
cared for by the most incredible family, and that's all of you guys.
Our Blind Cat Rescue family, whom we cannot express our gratitude
towards enough.
We will miss everything about him. His greatest escapes and finding
him sneaking around the lobby. Walking into his room and finding
him with his arms sticking straight out, hanging over the side of the
kuranda. Being greeted with the sweetest head boops and purrs. We
will miss it all.
Thank you all for making it possible for Rudy to have gotten to grow
old and know what a true life of love and happiness was like.
Sam
