FIV+, FeLV+, FIP Warrior, and Cleft Palate Gender: Male Approximate age: 9 months Arrived From: Durham, North Carolina Arrival Day: July 24 2026 If there were an award for the most medically complicated cat with the Biggest Personality, Lil Slurp would be a top contender! This adorable little FeLV+ (Feline Leukemia Virus positive) boy came to the attention of animal control, where a veterinarian quickly realized he needed much more than routine care. Thankfully, a wonderful foster stepped up to give this tiny fighter the chance he desperately needed. Lil Slurp couldn't bottle-feed like a typical kitten. That's when his foster discovered he had a cleft palate, a birth defect where there is an opening in the roof of the mouth, creating a connection between the mouth and nasal cavity. Because of this, milk could enter his nose and lungs instead of going where it belonged. So, this little guy became tube-fed. As he slurped his food with all the enthusiasm in the world, his adorable name was born.. Lil Slurp! But Slurp's medical challenges didn't stop there. He is also currently undergoing treatment for FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis), making him a medically complicated little cat. Sadly, the rescue his foster was working with ultimately decided they could no longer provide the level of care he needed. Without his foster, Lil Slurp would likely have been euthanized simply because his medical needs were too overwhelming. But his foster wasn't ready to give up. She knew this little slurping sweetheart deserved more and she knew she needed help and resources to provide it. That's where we came in. Lil Slurp may have started life with more challenges than any kitten should ever face, but he has something even more powerful on his side, people who refuse to give up on him. Go, Lil Slurp.
